Buffalo
Come to Dickerson
Road
Mayor Karl Dean
and community
leaders welcomed a
herd of buffalo
scupltures on
Dickerson Road last
week. The addition
of the buffalo in a
landscaped median at
the intersection of
First Avenue
North is just part
of an extensive
streetscape
improvement project
recently completed
along the corridor.
Other improvements
include new signage,
sidewalk
replacement, stamped
asphalt crosswalks
at traffic signal
intersections,
pedestrian control
signals, and access
ramps. Buffalo were
chosen to be a
project centerpiece
because large
numbers of buffalo
came through the
area that is now
Dickerson Road
during the 1700s.
The Dickerson Road
Merchants
Association was
instrumental in
seeing the project
through.
